- Door rattles or bolt sits loose in the extended position. The strike plate has shifted, or the bolt is wearing undersized from repeated impact against a misaligned strike. Florida’s sandy soils let houses settle; we’ve re-aligned more strikes in Cape Coral and Lehigh Acres than we can count.
- Visible corrosion or pitting on the exterior cylinder face. Salt air gets past the finish and attacks the brass substrate. Once pitting starts, moisture reaches the pin chambers and the lock degrades from inside. This is why we spec stainless or PVD-finished hardware within five miles of any coast.
